East of the campus is downtown Philadelphia, a beautiful historic town with nice shopping, landmarks, and museums, Penn housing is really nice- there are special freshman dorms, and upper class high risers. There is a vibrant Greek life with a lot of sorority and fraternity housing, and off campus housing is likewise popular. On campus housing has immediate internet access and special movie channels on tv. Each highrise has cardiovascular machines on one floor, laundry machines on every other floor, and a commissary on every bottom level. Penn is fully equipped with athletic facilities- 2 Olympic sized pools, tennis courts (indoor and outdoor), track, weight gym and cardiovascular gym, aerobics classes. Many students attend gyms in downtown Philadelphia.
