The social life in Oxford is fantastic, unless you want to go to great
clubs all the time (in which case cheap buses run to london every 12
minutes, 24hour). The college system means you can play any sport, get
involved in drama, music, organising social events - whatever your thing
is. You can play at any level - college sport is pretty amateur, and
most sports will let anyone play, even if they have no experience
whatsoever. If you are more competent, the university has reasonably
high profile teams in most sports. The same applies to any social
activity - eg. you can produce amateur plays in college, or professional
ones for the university.
Each college has it's own bar and entertainment committee that organise
all manner of social events, and there are a great number of university
wide societies if you fancy escaping the goldfish bowl that college can
become (living within 200yds of 300 people can be a bit challenging at
times, but is usually great fun)
oxford has some pretty good restaurants and things to do, about 5
relatively small clubs catering for most tastes and lots of live music.
