ND has a darn lame social life and school officials love tipping cops
to bust parties off campus. Residence Life, codename the "Big
Brother", is always watching to put students into trouble. Since South
Bend is a small town, University officials know everything and control
everyone in the city. If you're busted at a bar - expect hearing from
the University. I live off-campus and I had a few parties broken - not
by cops, but by actual university officials. (Sure its private
property but remember - its a private school and they do whatever they
want) University officials will threaten students and will do whatever
it takes for you not to have a party involving alcohol. Thanks to such
efforts, social life has deteriorated significantly in the past couple
of years with more and more kids just staying in the dorms playing
Playstation and drinking beer on their own without socializing with
girls. For those who are 21 the situation is a little better: Some of
the campus favoriteas are Heartland, which is a big dance club, the
Library - which is a jock bar, the Linebacker and Corby's - which has
an older crowd (often you'll find your TAs hanging out there). The
Legendary Boat Club - a classic underage bar that sold dollar pitchers
of beer, played bad 80s music and which still lives in the memory and
hearts of all students - is no more at Notre Dame thanks to ResLife
which was able to bust the place last year. However, word is out that
they will come back in a year or so.
