The quality of life at Notre Dame is top notch! Housing is guaranteed
for all four years and most students stay on campus for that amount of
time. Those who don't have a great variety of local housing that are
large and gorgeous and also cheap because of the location (Indiana).
The on campus housing, residence halls, are unique. They are all single
sex everyone stays in the same hall for all 4 years. It creates a tight
family environment and a lot of dorm pride. They are most similar to
sororities and fraternities which do not exist at ND.
ND has many great sports facilities including gyms, pools, and indoor
and outdoor fields and basketball courts.
The dining is fabulous! There are 2 dining halls that serve tasty
food. Not typical gross college food. On football weekends the line is
out the door to get in because parents and alumni and students love it
so much. There are also other on campus dining facilities where you can
buy food such as Subway, Sabaro, Burger King, Starbucks and non chains
that are more like restaurants and hangouts. You can deduct the cost of
dining here from the "flex point" dollars on your meal plan (about $250
a semester)
The South Bend neighborhood isn't the best. There are periodic
robberies at off campus locations, but almost NEVER on campus. You
could leave your laptop out in the open for hours and no one would ever
touch it.
Notre Dame isn't in a college town, it is on a highway. But the
activities on campus make up for the lack to do in South Bend.
