The best thing about Notre Dame its the Alumni Network. I basically surf the
directory and look for alumni that are working in the financial services industry
and shoot them emails asking for information and eventually they help me out. I
got an internship this summer in sales and trading in a broker-dealer through an
alumn contact that I reached through email. Notre Dame is prestigious - which is
a good thing - but there is a reason for it: there are a lot of smart kids here.
So that means a lot of competition when getting a job within the school. The
Career Center is a decent source of information for career placement - they give
you some information on how to get hold of alumni, how to approach employets,
etc. However, there is still much to improve in that department. A lot of
companies come to Notre Dame for recruiting during career fairs.
