I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and back home I went to a Brazilian
high school. Thus, I had absolutely no college counseling and all
information I got from college admissions was through the internet and
through college guides. (e.g., Princeton Review) In none of the schools
I applied to (ND, Brown, WashU-StLouis) an interview was part of the
admissions process. As far as essays I also used the internet and
college books to guide me in how to write one. At Notre Dame college
admissions is fairly simple and standard, I applied early and sent in
my SAT scores along with two essays and grades. Initially they could
not give me a decision right away because I had asked for financial aid
and they could not confirm until regular action decision. Throughout
the entire process my Admissions Representative was incredibly
friendly, as everyone in the Admissions Office Staff. In fact, for a
top 20 school, Notre Dame has the best Admissions Office - I visited
about six schools (WashU, Brown, Harvard, UPenn, Brandeis and
Georgetown) and all admissions officers had holier-than-thou's
attitudes, while in Notre Dame they treated me like I already was a
student in the University.
