There are two scenarios for housing at the University of Miami: you
just get lucky or it gets better with time. The most popular housing on
campus is Mahoney/Pearson most freshman make this dorm their fist
choice, it has self contained bathrooms as opposed to community style.
The housing selection system recently changed and was very poorly
organized and the previous housing system didn't give preference by
grade level. If someone was lucky starting, they could stay lucky for
four years.
Campus Life is amazing there is so much to do. Some students fall into
the trap of getting too involved and losing control over their
academics (be careful it is fun and tempting). There is an orgaization
that is made for everyone and the potential to make your own! The
dining facilities are nice, the food is often good especially during
theme nights at the cafeteria. There are also dining dollars that allow
shopping in the convenience store and the on campus food court. Lastly,
I know students are wondering what abut Miami? Well, there is also
transportation provided every weekend into Miami, to a major mall, the
grocery store, and a happening spot called Cocunut Grove. Quality of
life is something to take advantage of, enjoy it!
The University of Miami is not the most secure campus, but there is
minimal crime and many security guards on duty, though there are many
ways to enter campus without encountering any security guards.
