Greek system - what Greek system? This is one of the GREAT things about
UMass, and one of the reasons why I picked this school. I wanted a
school where the Greek system was small and not really important to the
social life of the school. UMass has so much available, socially -
parties, concerts, ice skating, athletics, radio, art, theater, dance,
etc - if you participate in Greeks, great. If you don't, you still won't
lack for friends or things to do.
The UMass campus doesn't lack for restaurants, sub shops, convenience
stores, dance parties, etc. The Amherst area is exploding with sub
shops, pizza, bars, etc., almost all of which cater to students. It's a
perfect environment. My favorites were the Greenough Snack Bar on campus
for subs, ice cream and brownies; Brunos for delivery pizza; and Panda
East or Am Chi for Chinese Food. La Veracruzana serves good, cheap
Mexican in a cool environment.
