There are many things to do around town, from shopping, to hiking to skiing. Lots of shops and fine restaurants in and around Amherts-Northampton, ranging from Cuban, Chinese to Indian, Italian. People are low key and laid back. Most frats are on campus. They're prety strict about ID's and selling alcohol to the point of borderline ridiculous, so make sure you bring a good fake ID, every weekend there's a party to go to. The campus itself is beautiful. There's the Spring Concert next to the campus pond free of charge to eveyone, where they bring medium-renowned bands.
