Current students are lucky. Many former students, who are now in the corporate
world are sending their HR reps to the school. Some firms that recruit Finance
undergrads from campus for internships and full-time positions include Lehman
Brothers, Legg Mason, JP Morgan, T. Rowe Price, Marriott, GE, IBM, Morgan Stanley
and Freddie Mac. In addition, the office of career management is awesome, the
advisors there are extremely helpful.
Maryland's resources just keep getting better. Recently, the school opened up a
fiancial markets lab. This lab is state of the art and allows students to use the
same real market data and software that I-bankers and traders use on Wall
Street.(info from Reuters and Bloomberg)
One caveat, although it is not impossible to make it to a Top Wall Street from
UMD, if that is where you want to go, you may be better off going to a school
like NYU. UMD is 3.5 hrs from NYC while NYU is about a 5 minute subway ride.
Either than that the programs are in many peoples opinions-equal.
