Quality of Life Survey
Full-time undergraduate program U of I seems huge when you are a student there. The university however goes to great lengths to set up activities where students meet other students. Such programs are administered through dorms, the fraternity / sorority system, social clubs, within colleges, etc. A social fair at the beginning of each semester displays available activities and organizations students can get involved in. Freshman should stay in the dorms their first year in order to meet as many people as possible. Also, incoming Freshman should get involved in clubs and organizations right from the start. Freshman year is the best time to pledge fraternities and sororities, often times the second semester seems right. After freshman year, most students live in apartments or fraternity / sorority houses. Finding an apartment on campus is not too difficult nor expensive and is a good alternative to the dorms for students established socially.
