As I recall the application process was not significantly different or
more difficult than for the other universities I applied to. I do not
recall having to go through an entrance interview. Although Illinois is
a state school and thus is accessible to students who are not on the
top-end of the academic spectrum, it is nevertheless full of
exceptionally bright and ambitious young people. It is accessible and
yet challenging.
