The Ad/PR program at UCF is well organized and produces great candidates for the
job market. They have two clubs, the "Ad club" and QUOTES, both of which educate
students on the real world industry. Internships are required... Internship
fairs are organized twice a year by QUOTES for the entire Communications School.
They are held in downtown Orlando, a central location for all students. The
program is highly respected among emloyers, HOWEVER, because the program is new
as is the concept of Public Relations, most employers (small companies) do not
have the funds to hire any marketing related people or services since September
11, 2001. Agencies have laid off entire departments. The jobs available at the
moment are sales. Freelance graphic artists are becoming ubiquitous. As the
business life grows, so too does the marketing dollar. Since every business
needs to be seen and heard there is promise to the Ad/PR graduate. It is now
when the Public Relations segment becomes most valuable.
