This is the safest place I have EVER been, and I've been all over the
world. Don't take my word for it, by law each school has to post its
crime stats. At UCI, as well as in Irvine, crime is virtually no
existant. The campus as well as the city of Irvine is Immaculant. There
is no trash or grafitti anywhere, not even old building for that
matter. Irvine is in fact, the most planned community in the country.
The telephone and cable lines are even underground, for aethestics of
course. Becuase the city is so new, even the student housing is fairly
new, making rent a tad pricey, especially if your not used to rent in
california. I had and apartment caddy corner to the school and the rent
for my apartment was $1220 for a two bedroom with one bathroom, and this
was cheaper than any one else's rent that I came across that was walking
distance to campus. (Excluding campus housing, of course) The
apartments however are not you typical college apartments. My apartment
had vaulted ceilings, huge balconies, etc. The grounds of ALL of the
apartment communities in Irvine are meticulously cared for. They are
all owned by IAC which is an acronym for Irvine Apartment Communities.
I suggest you check out thier website to see the communities, becuase
chances are when you leave the dorms this is where you will be
staying. Also, keep in mind that no one pays the published rates on
the website.
