| Full-time B.S. in engineering program |
I am currently a doctoral student at MIT in mechanical engineering, and I owe
this accomplishment entirely to the excellent (and still increasing) reputation
of UCI Irvine's Henry Samueli School of Engineering. A degree from the Samueli
School is highly respected in Southern California and has enjoyed growing value
throughout the rest of the USA as Irvine grows into a world-class engineering
school.
While attending UCI, I was able to obtain an engineering internship every
summer. After graduating from UCI, I had several job offers. I was also admitted
to several prestigious engineering graduate programs.
Many employers prefer to hire UCI grads over students from "better" schools
because they know that UCI students obtain a better education and are better
prepared for real-world problems.
UCI has recently refurbished its career center, and this resource continues to
grow in value. UCI has also been placing a lot of resources into developing
networks of active alumni who provide mentoring and job placement opportunities
for students. The effort to involve alumni in the school's affairs will allow UCI
to add further value to its degree in the coming years.
