The cutoff point was determined based on a weighted score of GPA, SAT I, & SAT IIs. Those above the cutoff were automatically admitted; those below it had their essays then read and considered. Since I fell into the first category, the admissions process was simple and painless. However, the process has since changed so that essays are now more important.
