The social scene in Tucson is alive and well, for a city and a campus of
its size U of A can hold its own with the social scene. Every year
their is a few new bars and trendy restaurants opening up around town,
student bar favorites include Gentle Ben's, Dirtbags, Maloney's,
O'Malley's, The Shanty, Frog and Firkin, Trident, The Buffet and
Guido's. Student favorite restaurants include: Beyond Bread, Penguin's,
Bison Witches, Frog and Firkin, Nico's Taco Shop, Jim's Greek Patio,
Gentle Ben's, Agave, Sauce, Firecracker, Smokin and Old Chicago. The
Greek system at U of A continues to be one of the largest in the western
US with roughly 20 fraternities and 18 sororities, with events going on
weekly this system remains quite active throughout the year. Events
going on usually focus around the college basketball season as everyone
wants tickets and goes nuts during the games, other main events are
homecoming week, greek week, spring fling (the largest student run
carnival in the nation) and graduation week.
