| Full-Time Undergraduate program |
My opinion was that the admissions process was a complete disaster.
Entrance to the undergraduate program is granted to those who meet the
academic requirements in a pre-professional year. Applicants are
granted admission if they exceed the competitive average of all those
who applied. When I entered the program the competitive average was
around 3.4/4.0. Around late 2000, the economy took a downturn and the
demand to get into business school increased dramatically. As a result
the competitive average has risen to around 3.6/4.0. Now I have no
problem with academic performance being utilized as criterion for
admission, but I do have a problem when it is the only one. The main
reason why the admission's process is ridiculous is that business
school requires that a student possess a variety of skills (mainly
people/communication skills) in order to be successful, and I believe
the current process over looked such skills. Thus chosing applicants
solely on a basis of GPA completely ignores and leaves out mainly
qualifies students just because 1 year's worth of academics may not be
up to the competitive and really high average.
