Admission & Application Survey
Full-time undergraduate program The application process to the Naval Academy can be daunting. There are three specific hurdles that must be met. There is no way to detail the process fully in this forum, the most important this is to get in contact with you local "Blue and Gold" Officer. You can call the Naval Academy to get the "Blue and Gold" Officer's number. The "Blue and Gold" Officer will then help you through the admission process. A brief overview of the three parts of the application process follow. The first two should happen simultaneously and then the third should be started for you after your application material is turned in. First, you must get an appointment to the Naval Academy from a Congressman, Senator, or in some cases the Vice President or President of the United States. You seek this out by contacting your respective respresetatives office and stating your intentions. You then need to submit a letter to the office and should follow suggested guidelines for that. You should stress that you would like an interview. That you are more than your numbers state. Secondly, you need to fill out all the appropriate application material. I suggest you take a campus visit to the Naval Academy to see if it's really for you. While there, try and get in to see the admissions department and the Dean. Make them remember you. That way when they see your application they can put a face with the name. Lastly, you must qualify medically and physically. Once your application is in the Naval Academy will direct you to a medical facility to get your physical done. They will also direct you to a testing site to have a fitness test conduct. Take this seriously. Whatever numbers you can put up against other applicants are important. The process is tough, about 12000 people apply to the Naval Academy and only about 1200 are admitted. Make sure first and foremost you want to serve your country as a Naval or Marine Corps Officer. You are not going to the Naval Acadmey to "play football" or "because your dad went there." You have to go there for you and for your Country.
