Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time undergraduate |
The Naval Academy is very selective and the admissions process is
extensive. On average 1 of every 14 applicants will be accepted. The
first step in the process is to contact the local Blue and Gold Officer,
who represents the Admissions Office. This individual provides
application information and tries to weed out applicants who aren't
serious or don't meet basic eligibility criteria. He or she will also
identify potential candidates for early selection. In addition to
submitting SAT/ACT scores, the applicant will have to fill out a 14 page
application that includes essays on what the Navy's core values (Honor,
Courage, and Commitment) mean to them and how the individual has
demonstrated these values in their own life. The application requires
that the student be evaluated by their English and Math or Science
Teachers, as well as their counselor. Average SAT score is over 1450,
ACT over 32. Most selectees have Varsity letters in at least one
sport. Participation in competitive forensics and debate is a plus.
Participation in Boys/Girls State or Nation is a plus. Extracurricular
activities, including sports, must show that student seeks out
leadership roles and excels at them.
