Tufts tries really hard to maintain a very high quality of life, and in
most aspects they succeed. Housing for first and second years was
mandatory, and very good. For the last 2 years of college though, you
are not guarenteed on-campus housing. Although there is an off-campus
housing office to help find housing, it is a nightmare. Finding a
house is hard, the houses are really run down and in bad shape, and the
rent is ridiculous.
Campus is beautiful, and very well kept up.
The dining hall is great. I actually miss it sometimes. They are very
good about keeping options open for religious holidays, vegans, and
vegetarians. They have come a long way with the plans and the hours of
dining services. The neighborhood is very safe; it is mostly
families. Tufts is located near Davis Square, which is a great place
to be able to get off campus to with out having to travel all the way
into the city (not that the city is very far). I always felt very safe
on campus even late at night by myself, and the security officers are
always around to escort you if you do feel unsafe.
