The admissions process seemed very similar to many other top schools.
Tufts is part of the Common Application, but there are additional essay
questions, which are optional. These questions are generally used to
find out your impressions on qualities that the university sees as
important, e.g. leadership. There is an alumni interview, but this
seems to be relatvely unimportant -- only really helps you if you're on
the border line between being accepted or rejected. Overall, Tufts
seems to like people who are either incredibly well-rounded individuals,
in terms of academic interests, and activities, or lopsided individuals,
who have been really focused on one or two main things in their high-
school years. Generally, you don't find too many people who fall in the
middle of these two descriptions at Tufts.
