Some colleges [engineering and business] are fantastic at providing job and
internship opportunities for students, with large co-op and job fairs, constant
listings and interview opportunities and a well-placed and very A&M-focused
alumni network. Other smaller colleges within the university have less robust
programs in place, but as the old saying goes, your Aggie ring is like wearing
your diploma on your right hand.
The Career Placement Center in the John J. Koldus Building is a wonderful
resource. As well as having an extensive reference library of job-related
information, it serves as the hub of interviewing on campus, and offers a number
of services to students to help them polish their resumes and interviewing
skills. One of Texas A&M's goals is to graduate Aggies into great jobs so that
they, in turn, will provide jobs to Aggies down the road, and of course, generate
large alumni contributions to the university. So even if you graduate without a
job waiting for you, join your local A&M club - nobody networks like Aggies, and
the family will help you find a job soon enough.
