| Full-time Undergraduate Program |
The admissions process is average/typical of many other larger
institutions (it is not an ivy-league rival but respected for specific
programs/schools - such as the Maxwell School of Public Policy &
Newhouse School of Public Communications). There is a detailed
application package inquiring about high school achievements, grades,
extra-curricular activities (respectable grades - no need to be top of
class but top 30% as well as a least 2 extra-curricular programs -
school related or not) , as well as an essay describing goals and
ambitions. Choice of school within the university to apply is required
(there are about 11 schools including School of Nursing, College of Arts
& Science, Information Sciences, School of Visual Arts etc -
transferring between schools are possible) . SATs are required and the
average range are from about 1050 to 1400. AP classes are a plus.
Portfolios are required for Art majors and auditions for Dancers and
Actors. Otherwise there is no interview, however Admissions is more
than willing to speak with prospective students. The Newhouse School of
Communications is quite selective but not impossible. Freshmen not
selected into Newhouse usually spend their 1st year in the College of
Arts and Sciences then with the apporiate grades transfer in.
