The most significant drawback to social life at Stanford is the cost of fun in nearby Palo Alto. Because Palo Alto is expensive, students tend to stay on campus. And campus life revolves (or at least it did in the mid 90s) around fraternity parties. While those are fun for freshman and sophomores, they tend to get old after awhole. Again, the social life becomes what you make of it.
