Stanford is very much an on-campus university. The vast majority of
students live, socialize, and do most other personal stuff on campus.
While that can be a good thing, it can also get boring. And San Fran is a
good 1-hr drive away, so it's not a convenient place to visit during the
week. Since I graduated, the # of freshman dorms has gone up from 1
(Branner) to a few others (inc. Kimball), and all-frosh dorms are the way
to go, in my opinion. My best friends from Stanford are the 7 from
Branner and another 7 or so from the fraternity.
