While the career placement center was a resource for me, I feel that I would've been better off if I'd searched on my own a bit more. In the business area (consulting/I-banking), many seniors compete ferociously for the interview slots of the companies that come to campus. It can be difficult to get noticed if you're a normal student with a 3.5 GPA. I think that Stanford has an excellent alumni network system. This can be a great way to open doors while looking for a first job or networking after graduation.
