The Stanford name and prestige has really served as a seal of approval for me in
the workplace. Even if on-campus recruiting didn't help (I did not use it all
that much), I managed to find a job. A good number of employers take confidence
in the Stanford degree. But you still have to have a good personality when you
interview. The Stanford Alumni Association has improved in its outreach in
recent years, so you can expect more from alumni networking in the
future--although it's still nowhere near as good an alumni network as some of the
old Ivy schools on the East Coast.
