One of the benefits of being Stanford is that all major companies come to
recruit. As a senior and young alum, I used to complain about the stereotype
that everyone who graduates from Stanford is set for life. I thought it wasn't
true, especially as I got my share of rejections from several management
consulting firms. Then a co-worker at my first job pointed out to me, "At least
the consulting firms actually come your school." While graduating from Stanford
does not guarentee the good life, it does at least give you ample opportunity to
try to pursue it.
