No interviews. Because Stanford can pick from the cream of the crop and
most of the applicants have similar stellar numbers and umpteen
extracurricular or volunteer activities, the make-or-break often comes
in the essays or unusual achievements. You need to stand out as an
unusual overachiever--e.g., an Olympic athlete, come from an unusual
geographic location (e.g., Idaho, Greece, Alabama), have attended a
performing arts high school, write a really creative and stand-out
essay, or anything else that makes you stand out from the other highly
qualified applicants in a positive or interesting way.
