Smith has no greek life, since students often identify with their houses
(see the question on quality of life) and stay in them for most or all
of their time at the school. Social activities are sponsored by the
Recreation Council of the college and by houses. Winter Weekend and
Spring Weekend - 3-day social events featuring music, performences,
acapella singing, guest performers, formal dances and parties - are a
favorite. The town, Northmapton, also has many bars, clubs, galleries
and resturants. There is hiking, rock climbing, apple picking, boating,
and other out door recreation in the surrounding area.
