The town is small. There's Main St., which has about 3 bars, 3 pizza
places, 3 sandwich places, 3 places to get tatoos, and 3 tanning
places. (Yes, that's very close to an exact count.) The whole time I
was there I complained about the food (on campus food is absolutely
horrendous, and off-campus is not so good), but then again, I am from
downstate NY, so I'm picky. Drive about a mile (if you pay the $90 a
semester to park a car on campus) and you'll come to all the requisite
fast food places, a Wegmans supermarket and a Walmart. And that's about
it....
I always felt safe there, there isn't much crime. Rochester is about 40
mins north. You can get to Buffalo is a little over an hour. Off-campus
housing averages around the same cost as on-campus, $1500 a semester.
Many juniors and seniors move off campus.
It gets pretty cold, well freezing in my opinion. Not all that much
snow, but Geneseo is right on the top of a hill, and is VERY windy.
When I went home for Christmas break the 32 degrees and no wind almost
made me want to take off my coat.
