I spent one year in the dorms, and as a transfer student to Rutgers
College, lived on the Livingston campus instead of College Ave. (where
R.C. students normally reside). The dorm was clean and safe, and was
co-ed by floor, which I thought was a great arrangement. Some of the
dorms have mixed floors. The advantages of living on Livingston were
that the business school is located there, and it was easy to have a
car on campus.
The campus is spread out into several campuses - College Avenue,
Livingston, Busch, and Cook/Douglass. While at Rutgers, I had classes
on every campus. Rutgers provides bus service, but certain bus routes
run slow. Once I was in the business school, nearly all of my classes
were on Livingston - which made things easier.
The facilities were fine - the buildings in the business school were
fairly new, and the computers and electronics were up to date.
The dining was okay - I only had a meal plan one year. It was your
typical college food - but the selection was pretty good.
The neighborhoods were nice on the College Ave and Livingston campuses -
where I lived. I can't say much for those where I didn't live.
College Ave. has a true "college" feel, while Livinston is more like a
mass of buildings and dorms.
I had no problems with crimes and felt safe while at school and in my
dorm / apartment.
