Rice is very selective. So first make sure you have taken challenging
course work in high school and performed well in those courses. Also
make sure your SAT scores are very competitive. Like most competitive
universities good high school grades and scores are just the starting
point - everyone applying has them - now, you have to differentiate.
Students do that via activities at school, community, etc...
Demonstrate leadership and what value you'll bring to the school.
Definitely interview - it demonstrates to a school that you are really
interested.
