Princeton's social ligfe is centered around extracurricular activities
(singing groups, sporting clubs and teams, etc etc) in addition to the
eating clubs. The eating clubs are like coed fraternities but without
all the "BS". There are eating clubs that are selective (like a
fraternity or sorority "rush") and clubs that you just sign up for with
a bunch of friends. This removes the pressure and splitting up of
friends that happens in greek systems. The coed nature of the system
also makes for a much more well-rounded and enjoyable experience than
the greek system. Almost everyone at Princeton finds a niche or
several niches that they fit into well.
