There is no limit when it comes to social life at Penn State. There is
something to do for everyone. You will never be bored. There are a
variety of restaurants and bars with different themes, as well as plenty
of shopping within walking distance of the campus-right across the
street. There are probably 15 bars/nightclubs all within walking distance
to choose from.
As far as the Greek system, there are at least 50 fraternities and
several sororities to choose from.
There are always activities going on on campus as well. Some of the
favorite events include The Dance Marathon, where dancers collect
sponsers and dance for 48 hrs to raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund.
There is also a regatta including big name bands at the nearby state park
in the spring. And speaking of bands, PSU's arenas house several concerts
with popular bands, singers thoughout the year. And of course, there is
football-students are offered tickets at a reduced price and can enjoy
tailgating and watching the home games with 50,000 or more other fans.
They also still practice the Mifflin Streak once a year although that's
not sponsored by the college!
There are also several clubs and activites to join. Including working for
the Daily Collegian, the school's newspaper which is totally run by
students. And intramural sports are held throughout the year for those of
us who like to play sports for fun, such as football, soccer, volleyball
