Employment Prospects Survey |
| Digital Media |
By the time you hit your Senior year, you are required to go out and set
yourself up as an intern somewhere out in "the Industry." This can be more
difficult than it sounds in the Digital Media industry of Hollywood and
surroundings. But every student has to learn the tools of interviewing, preparing
a resume, searching for a job and acquiring the skills to get and keep a job.
Since that first year, 1997, the size of the department has more than
quadrupled. (We were a class of 39 students.) A splendid Fine Arts College has
entered the Age of New Techologies with a Roar that has caught the attention of
Hollywood! Almost every one of our original 39 graduates is working somewhere in
the Digital community. If not that, we are teaching new students the skills we
learned.
Since I graduated, the skills of the successive graduating classes have
increased exponentially, which says something about the department, but also
something about the students. The work they are doing is phenomenal. And the
jobs they are being offered even before they graduate testify to that fact.
A fabulous Alumni Letter has been instigated by a new Head of Alumni Affairs.
The campus has been invigorated by new buildings, a new Preident, and a new
Alumni Career Center is up and running at the behest of our energetic Career
Center and Job Placement Office.
I have been amazed at how many Otis Graduates I have met sinc I graduated!
