NYU is the largest private real estate owner in all of the city. You pay
almost half your tuition to live in NYU housing. Taking just these two
into consideration, I can say with complete confidence that NYU housing
is the best. Not only do we have many options, single rooms,
doubles..etc. but we get to live in the coolest locations in the city.
The only reason I went to NYU was because I knew I would get to live in
Soho while I am a student.
Socializing in the dorms is also a huge benefit. You and your neighbors
really feel privileged to be living in doormaned apartment buildings.
Dining halls were just down stairs, and you were in the middle of
everything. The neighborhoods are safe, always policed, and always full
of life. NYU is in the best location in the city, and even though it
doesnt have a campus, it certainly has some of those student only zones,
so you do feel somewhat enclosed in a community setting.
The Dining facilities are not the best, but suffice for the average
college student. We have many cafes and Starbuck types that offer the NYC
gourmet delicacies for those that can afford it. Food was not a huge
issue because in the village their is food for every craving and every
budget.
