Miami is a state school yet the admissions are highly selective. When I
interviewed for an admissions counselor position after graduation. The
goal was to get to a 50% acceptance rate. Each year the median SAT and
ACT scores seem to increase.
There is not interview process. The essays required are looked at but
the main focus is on test scores. The school also focuses on diversity
so applicants who are minorities will recive a slight edge. In
addition, Miami looks for geographic diversity such as someone from
Alaska desiring to attend the school.
