I attended another school in-state 30 yrs ago and decided that it was
time to finish after a 30 yr hiatus.
The school was willing to transfer up to 90 credit hours of prior work
despite the "vintage". This is in comparison to the state university
system that will only allow 10 yr vintage.
I provided a transcript and they accepted 72 hr.s that were applicable to
the degree I am presently working on. This, in conjunction with a $20 fee
and the typical college application allowed me to be accepted. Because I
was a transfer, I didn??t need to take either the SAT or the ACT for
acceptance. Because all my English cases transferred I did not take the
English placement test. The did require that I take a math placement
regardless of prior work.
The school had an open house registration process that allowed me the
opportunity to discuss my objectives and possibilities of testing out of
classes I had experience in with the professors and the head of the
Engineering department one on one. This has allowed me the ability to
get some of the degree requirements done by testing out and still apply
as in-major credits towards the degree. Given that the tuition is $300/
credit this saves a fair bit of expense.
