The dorms had a few memorable party nights - much frequented by freshman and
sophmores living in the dorms; one soon came to see these littel fetes as
amateur hour,
however, as the rest of this fabulous city has so much more to offer. I would
venture to
wager that one can probably find more ethnic restaurants per capita than in any
comparable city in North America. And, of course, plenty of excellent French
cuisine can
be found. The Greek system is not terribly emphasized and certianly not
socially very
important, but there were a few frats that had an occasional party I attended.
A favorite
bar, still much frequented by McGill students, is Bar St. Laurent, on St.
Laurence Blvd.,
right in the middle of the plateau. A favorite, excellent, and near campus,
better than
fast food fast food spot is Basha, Lebanese sandwiches and the like, on St.
Catherine St.
There are now apparently several of them dotted all over the city. One last
point. There
are many Montrealers attending McGill, this can dramatically open the city up to
you - if
you're the type who will endeavor to get to know some of your fellow students.
