Boston is a college town and Cambridge is 2 minutes away from Boston.
Finding something to do is not a problem at MIT. The biggest problem is
finding time to do something. There is an endless number or bars,
clubs, and restaurants in Boston and Cambridge. However the bars and
clubs all close down at 2am.
Greek life is very big at MIT, with about half of the guys joining a
fraternity and about 30% of the girls joining a sorority. Most weekends
have multiple fraternity parties being hosted. These parties are
attended not just by MIT students, but also students from BU,
Wellesley, Harvard, Northeastern, and many smaller local schools.
Besides city nightlife and parties, there are many on-campus
activities. A capella concerts are hugely popular and jam packed with a
screaming audience. Each of the most popular a capella groups has its
own devoted fans that show up hours before concerts to ensure front-row
seats. In addition, there are musical concerts, dance performances, and
theater productions going on at any given time. The quality of these
performances vary depending on the performers, but in general do not
disappoint.
