Poughkeepsie isn't the greatest town in America, but it used to be. We
are nestled in the town of poughkeepsie, but we border the city of
poughkeepsie on our left. The city is mainly a judicial sector, with
very low-income housing. While it does have its share of crime and
poverty, I can't say that it is a problem. We very rarely socialize
with them, even when we go into the city (where all the bars and clubs
are). College kids dominate the area as there are 3 colleges in the
same town (Marist, Vassar and Dutchess CC). Housing on campus is
great, and a priority point system assures that if you are active in
campus activities, get decent grades and don't destroy your current
living quarters you will get nicer housing the next year. Currently I
live in Lower West Cedar which are 6-8 person town houses with double
bedrooms. Plently of showers, 4 sinks and comfortable beds make the
townhouses the first choice for me. The cafeteria is serviced by
Sedex'ho Marriot, while the first isn't top choice, it's alright. The
campus is beautiful, lots of green and we're right on the Hudson River.
I know I made the right choice for surroundings.
