Quality of Life Survey |

Life at a university in Mexico is different than in the US. Most
obvious, the language is Spanish. Mexico DF is the capitol, and also
the largest and most populated city in the world. There is no on-
campus housing, there are no dormitories, and all students live off
campus. Most students do not go away to school, many live at home, or
if they are not from the DF, they live with extended family/relatives
located in the city, in order to attend. Those who do not have these
contacts usually rent rooms in "casas de huespedes" (private homes,
paying room and board). Campus facilities are generally dedicated to
the educational and social needs of the students. The university now
has a new campus, given that an earthquake struck the campus while I
was there in 1979, and facilities are ultra-modern.
