Kenyon is on the top of a hill and surrounded by cornfields, so the
only housing is college owned. Saying that, they keep the costs down,
and life in a freshman dorm guarentees great friends and a full
repertoire of stories to tell for years after. A new sports facility
is just being built that will have state-of-the-art everything and a
lounge, but the heart of the campus is the bookstore, which serves as
both the retail outlet for necessary books, but as a meeting place for
coffee, chess, newspapers and bagels. The campus is so small a bike is
hardly necessary, but useful for those 8.10 classes in the art
building. It is only a mile from one end to the other, and while it is
cold and snowy in the winter, spring comes early and is very worth the
wait. Most of the facilities are quite new, with science, art, music
and theater very well provided for. It's about the safest place you
will find in the States. If you don't crave movement and light and
anonymity, the qualitiy of life at Kenyon is superb. But be warned
that everyone will know your face if not your name, including the
people at the post office and bank.
