Providence has a lot of bars, clubs and restaurants, some of the best
restaurants I've ever been to actually. The bars are fine, some are
better than others. Cover charges can be expensive, but a lot of them
have college nights on Thursdays, which is good for J&W students because
there are no classes on Fridays. I didn't really go to clubs, so I
can't say much about those. There are too many good restaurants to list
all of them, but here are a few: Casserta has great pizza, The Cable
Car is a nice little coffee house that also has cheap movies in a
theater with waitresses and old car seats for chairs, Mediterraneo, and
The Cozy Grill, which has the best omelets and home fries I have ever
had and I will continue to eat breakfast there every time I visit that
city. I highly recommend getting the Entertainment Guide to Rhode
Island because it has hundreds of coupons and discounts on all sorts of
things to do and it is a great way to learn about new places in the
area. There are also a lot of other colleges in the city, so there are
always a lot of young people around. A good place to go for
shopping/food is Thayer Street, which is over by Brown University and
has all different stores and restaurants, from cheap sandwich places, to
expensive fine dining, and independant retailers to chain stores like
The Gap and Urban Outfitters. It's a great place to go on a nice day.
