Ithaca is COLD. That is for sure, but with that chilly weather comes
lots of opportunities to ski, skate, etc. It is a stunning campus
overlooking Cayuga Lake. Cornell University is literally across the
hill and is very accessible. The cost of living is really reasonable
complared to other universities. There are several off campus housing
options. I lived in a mansion one year, a victorian another, and in my
freshman year I lived in an on-campus appartment with a litchen and our
own bath! You get lots of walking in between going downtown to eat or
play and coming home. IC sits on top of the hill. The area is
surrounded by waterfalls, gorges, wineries, fantastic hikes. The
stunning countryside coupled with the respected program made it an easy
decision for me. The facitlities in the communications school are state
of the art. The best equipment donated by major studios like ESPN.
Many students stay for the summer because you can sail on the lake, swim
fish, hike, camp, go to Watkins Glen. I felt very safe while at
Ithaca. I think the worst part about going to school there is the
weather. The sun is often on hiatus. If you need your sun than this is
not the place for you. It really can get opressive in the winter time
which runs form, oh about the time you arrive until about the time you
leave! Staying for the summer is a must at least one time because that
is when the beauty really comes alive.
