Indiana University has a number of housing options, including
dormitories, sorority/fraternity houses and off campus housing. Each
dorm has it's own niche; all girls, alternative life styles, academic,
religious affiliation, etc... Overall, no matter where you live the
campus is easily accessible, whether by foot, by car or by bus. There
are a number of bus routes around campus, including campus buses and
city of Bloomington busses. Parking is a little bit of a challenge as
parking spaces are often hard to come by, but still a possibility.
As for crime and safety, IU has a number of Emergency call boxes through
the campus. However, as with all cities in America, everyone needs to
be aware of their surroundings when walking alone at night, even in the
nice college town, students need to use their heads and not be roaming
around in the dark alone. I never felt my safety was compromised while
I attended IU, but I also did not put myself into situations where I was
susceptible for something bad to happen.
