For me, the admissions process was relatively simple based on my previous
academic performance. There is an interview, but it was listed as
optional, so I didn't do it (later I figured out that it is relatively
important, so do the interview if at all possible.)
Mudd is VERY selective. Don't bother applying if you're not near the top
of your class. Having said that, you don't have to be at the TOP of your
class to apply. They look for people with broader interests than just
math and science. They want people who will participate on campus in the
various activities, whether it be musical, athletic, campus
organizations, or whatever. Be sure to point these things out and present
a more rounded view of yourself. Academics are very important, but so is
being well rounded. HMC accepts people that other "prestigous" colleges
don't, often based on their opinion of what they can contribute to the
college.
