While the admission process is very standard, Harvard has now
implemented an Early Action Policy that does not allow a student to
apply any other school with early action if they are applying to
Harvard. From observing my current friends and classmates, Harvard is
really looking for people with a special talent that cannot be found
virtually anywhere else. Harvard claims in the Crimson newspaper that
only approximately 400 students are selected based on academics, while
the others have strong academics but have some other type of feature to
distinguish them. The interview seems to be a filtering process,
observing whether the applicant can hold a real conversation and showing
a genuine character. Because Harvard is about the dissemination of
knowledge, the interview really looks for students who are knowledgeable
or have unique experiences to share with other people.
